With the 2024 election upon us, I want to reiterate what I said in a post on October 16 called, Pardon Me, My Bias is Showing. I’ve updated several of the attached memes and added more (newest ones are first). Please feel free to use and share them.
As the 2024 election approaches and the rhetoric heats up, I can’t help but think about and comment on the candidates and the tenuous state of our great nation. The more I see and hear, the more convinced I am that Kamala Harris will make an excellent president, and Tim Walz will make an excellent vice president. Conversely, the more I see and hear from their opponents, the more convinced I am that our nation cannot survive as a democracy under their despotic rule.
While I don’t agree with some of Kamala Harris’s policy positions, I believe in her character and strength of conviction. I also believe that she listens to her constituents, and will truly be a president of all Americans. She remains true to her values, and while her positions may change or evolve as she learns more or acknowledges that her views are not shared by the majority, I have confidence that she will always do her best to do the right thing. If I’m disappointed, I’ll let her know.
I have never been more engaged or involved in a public election before. I’m writing frequently about it, working with Democratic organizations, actively participating in influential Substack discussions, serving as a poll worker, advising the county election office (perhaps unwelcomed), advertising with signs and tee shirts, and of course, voting. I’ve also created some memes that I am pleased to share for use without attribution.
Borrowing from President John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address (which is well worth revisiting), “Ask not what your country can do for you - Ask what you can do for your country.” Simply put, what we can all do for our country is VOTE!
Yes, agree on all Bob. My nephew, a Moderate Republican who is 38 says he will not vote for Trump (yay) but feels that he would be richer if Trump won. I quoted some current statistics and comparison of Trump tariff idea. He is a soctor in Houston, and their facilities are “overrun” with immigrants. As he says, the system is not built to service them all. He is an ER doc and that’s where most immigrants would go in dire need for themselves and their children.
I just listen. I truly think we need immigration reform, somehow, but deporting everyone is not the solution either.
The leaders here in Texas suck!!!
